FlySafair flight FA102 Bomb Squad Drama
June 7, 2024 – Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) - SAPS Keeping the Skies Real and Safe
Look, it's not every day that you get to witness the high-stakes drama of a bomb squad rolling up to an airport, but tonight was one of those special occasions. FlySafair's flight FA102, en route to O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), decided to spice things up with a potential security threat. Cue the South African Police Service (SAPS) Bomb Squad and a whole lot of "oh, shit" moments.
So, what went down? The airline's crew caught wind of a possible security threat on board and did the sensible thing: they freaked out in a controlled and professional manner. Enter the bomb squad and all the relevant law enforcement agencies, because when there's a sniff of trouble, it's all hands on deck.
Mark Maclean, the man with the plan from ACSA, made sure everyone knew they were on top of things. "The safety and security of the passengers and crew are of utmost importance," he said, with a tone that suggests he’s said this a million times before. Well, thank God for that, Mark. We’d hate to think you were prioritizing the in-flight snacks over a bomb threat.
As expected, the passengers and crew were hustled off the plane faster than you can say "WTF is happening?" Meanwhile, the SAPS and AVSEC (that’s Aviation Security for those who don't speak airport acronym) were busy ensuring that every nook and cranny of that plane was given the once-over. Because, hey, nothing says "secure" like a thorough search after a good scare.
The ACSA folks are probably patting themselves on the back for a job well done, and honestly, they kind of deserve it. Handling this kind of chaos is no joke, and it’s not every day you get to see this kind of action without having to buy a movie ticket.
So, next time you board a FlySafair flight, rest easy knowing that if there’s even a hint of trouble, you'll get a front-row seat to some serious real-life drama – complete with a bomb squad cameo. And remember, folks, DILLIGAF when it comes to travel excitement? Well, we sure hope someone does.
Stay tuned for updates. Or don’t. Your call.
For the families affected, do the sensible thing and hit up the airline for more info. Just don’t expect them to give you all the juicy details.
The End. Or not. Depends on your threshold for chaos.
Frank Lee DILLIGAF!
